Harapan Baru Alternative-Rock Jakarta: BAREFOOD...

Saya senang sekali karena di Jakarta akhir-akhir ini banyak bermunculan band-band alternative-rock yang bagus. Kata “bagus” di sini berarti betul-betul bagus. Bukan hanya gimmick di press-release yang ditulis oleh publicist dari pihak band. Barefood (www.myspace.com/barefoodmusic) adalah sebuah trio alternative-rock asal Jakarta-Timur. Terbentuk pada akhir bulan Agustus 2009, yang bertepatan dengan Bulan Ramadhan kala itu. Meski semua personil Barefood masih berusia muda, namun mereka mengaku terinspirasi oleh gerakan alternative-rock era 90-an. Yang paling kami suka dari mereka adalah, Barefood mengaku bahwa tujuan bermusik mereka hanya untuk bersenang-senang dan tidak ada sesuatu yang muluk-muluk untuk diraih.

Meski banyak terinspirasi oleh 90’s alternative-rock, tapi Barefood juga menggabungkan unsur-unsur yang membuat musik mereka tetap terasa segar dan update. Ini terdengar dari berbagai pengaruh di musik mereka.  Mulai agresifitas alternative-rock 90-an a la Ash, The Posies, Seaweed, Swervedriver, dan Manic Street Preachers. Lalu pengaruh Nu-Gaze (New-Wave of Shoegaze) era 2000-an macam: My Vitriol & Amusement Parks On Fire. Juga pengaruh band-band emo / indie-rock generasi 2000-an macam: Mock Orange, All American Reject & Sherwood.

Pada kesempatan ini Barefood melepas demo mereka secara gratis via Wasted Rockers. Demo ini berisi empat lagu. Track-track favorit saya adalah “Breathe” dan “Truth” Sayang, mereka belum menulis lirik dengan Bahasa Indonesia. Padahal lirik-lirik lokal dari band seperti ini lah yang kami nanti. Mudah-mudahan saja Barefood memenuhi ekspektasi kami di debut-albumnya nanti. Kami tunggu guys…

Google haven’t opened the Buzz API yet, so this plugin makes use of Google Reader Share option.
